Police say that between 03:30hrs and 18:15hrs, a party of policemen under the command of a Superintendent conducted a raid exercise at DeVeldt Village, Berbice River, and an eradication exercise at Gatetroy Village, Berbice River, respectively.
Acting on information recieved, the ranks went to a house at DeVeldt Village situated on the Eastern Bank of the Berbice River. As the ranks approached the building an identifiable male bolted from the house and made good his escape into some nearby bushes, ranks chased after him but their effort proved futile.
A search was conducted on the premises and the following firearms and ammunition were found concealed under the floorboards;
(1) One double barrel 12 gauge shot gun #SESPRR
(2) One 20 gauge shot gun #200109495
(3) One .32 shot gun #98015SB
(4) Two OPS air guns
(5) Nine 12 gauge, one 20 gauge and five .32 cartridges.
The aforementioned items were taken to Central Police Station where they were lodged.
Additionally, ranks proceeded to Gatetroy Village, where a partly harvested marijuana field along with a camp were found, with roughly three hundred plants measuring about four to six feet in height.
The plants which had an estimated value of $3,400,000 and the camp were both destroyed by fire.
