A Sophia couple who the Police allegedly busted with a quantity of Amphetamine made their court appearance on Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. 33-year-old Nylon Wilson and 19-year-old Nadira John pleaded not guilty to two charges.
Particulars of the first charge stated that on November 20, 2020, at Sophia, Greater Georgetown, they had 1016 grams of Amphetamine in their possession for the purpose of trafficking. On this charge, they were ordered to post bail in the sum of $75, 000 each.
On the other charge which alleged that they were in possession of eight grams of marijuana, they were released on $5,000 bail each after entering a plea of not guilty. They will make their next court appearance on December 21, 2020.
The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) in a press statement had said that on the day in question, ranks conducted a raid at a house located at 804 ‘C’ Field Sophia and uncovered the prohibited substances in a bedroom. As a result, the couple was arrested.
