PRISON OFFICER ALLEGEDLY CAUGHT WITH MORE THAN 800 GRAMS OF WEED GETS BAIL

The Prison Officer who was recently caught with more than 800 grams of cannabis was on Monday granted his pre-trial liberty after he was arraigned before the courts for alleged possession of narcotics.

Thirty-four-year-old Quincy Jemmott, of Schoonord, West Bank Demerara who last week was arrested by the Police following the discovery of 894.5 grams cannabis at the Cecil Kilkenny Training College on the same date, was charged with the offense of Possession of Narcotics for the purpose of Trafficking.

This is contrary to section 5 (1) ( a) (i) of the Narcotics Substance Control Act 10/10. He appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate court. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of $150,000. The case was postponed until 2020/12/21 for statements.
