A Patentia, West Bank Demerara man was on Thursday, November 12, 2020 charged with manslaughter over allegedly pushing his neighbour to death during a row over cabbage.
33-year-old Rajindra Ramlall, a labourer, appeared before Senior Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Wales Magistrate’s Courts.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleges that on November 07, 2020, he unlawfully killed 63-year-old Ronald Harrypersaud.
The accused killer was released on $200, 000 bail with instructions to return to court on December 10, 2020.
Media reports are that on the day in question, the two men were involved in a heated argument over cabbage.
Reports are that Harrypersaud had confronted his neighbour, Ramlall about throwing cabbage waste into a trench near his home.
It is alleged that during the confrontation, the accused cuffed the elderly man and pushed him down.
Harrypersaud was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was treated and discharged. He was found dead in his bedroom the very next day.
