BARTICA MAYOR AND SEVERAL OTHERS INJURED IN ACCIDENT

Police are investigating a serious accident which occurred on Tuesday 3rd November, 2020, about 18:20hours on Four Miles Potaro Road Bartica, involving motor pickup # PWW 7126, owned by the Mayor and Town council of Bartica and driven by His worship the Mayor Mr Grifford Marshall, age 40 years of West Indian Housing Scheme Bartica, motor Jeep # PTT 8073 driven by Rudolph Marshall male mixed race age 38 years of Five Miles Housing Scheme, Bartica and motor cycle # CK 5078 driven by Marti Subratti male, age 19 years of lot 8 Carabese Hill Bartica.

Enquiries disclosed that motor pick up # PWW 7126 was proceeding north along the western side of Four Miles Potaro Road Bartica at a moderate rate of speed, while motor jeep # PTT 8073 was proceeding south along the eastern side of the said road followed by motorcycle CK 5078, it is alleged by the driver of motor jeep PTT 8073 that he was blinded by the light of motor pickup PWW 7126 and he slowed down when he felt an impact to the rear of his vehicle, as a result of the collision the motorcycle lost control and collided into the right side of motor pickup PWW 7126 and fell onto the road surface and received injuries about body, he was picked up by the driver of motor jeep PTT 8073 in a conscious condition and taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was seen and examined by a Doctor on duty who treated him for the injuries he received and admitted him for observation.

Breathalyzer test were conducted on the driver’s and the were all below the prescribed limit.

Driver’s for motor pickup PWW 7126 and motor jeep PTT 8073 were released on self bail pending the investigation.
