The Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) wishes to advise customers in the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System (DBIS) who were adversely affected by high wind, lightning and heavy rainfall, that while every effort is being made to maintain a reliable supply of electricity, external factors continue to affect our transmission systems.

These factors invariably lead to service disruptions. On Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 05:57hrs our technical teams have been engaged in identifying and rectifying localised faults on the West Coast, East Coast and East Bank Demerara. Consequently, power was restored incrementally to affected communities during the course of the day.

GPL remains committed to providing our customers with reliable electricity supply by implementing system improvement projects to provide additional redundancy to the network. As a result, we are increasing our staff complement at our Call Centre and our Maintenance Crews to respond expeditiously to reported incidents.

Further, GPL continues to encourage customers to report all incidents of localised faults to our Call Centre on 226-2600 as our Company may not always be aware of such occurrences.
For more information contact our Public Relations Unit on 225-1471, Call Centre: 226-2600.
