Like many sporting bodies across the country and worldwide, mechanisms to safeguard athletes while competing in various sporting activities remain a hassle for most sporting sectors. While some have successfully found ways to do so, it is being conducted under strict protocols.
The Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation is still in search of how to get back into game of hitting targets. The last time the sport shooting foundation had a competition was back in February, and according to Shooting Foundation Secretary, Vidushi Persaud McKinnon, when they do resume, they will have the usually safety protocols.
“We will have to set up the targets with various distances. There is usually a range officer that usually stand behind you and follow you during the course of the stages and in practice sessions to make sure safety is taking into account because safety comes first in sport shooting activities. But of course, social distancing rules would have to be followed.” McKinnon said.
