Guyana’s main ports of entry opened to commercial flights less than a week ago and regional carrier Caribbean Airlines is setting its sight on operating from the two major airports locally.

CAL intends to pick up where regional Carrier LIAT left off. LIAT earlier this year went bankrupt due to lockdowns of airport and COVID restrictions.

A source from Caribbean Airlines told The Guyana Ledger that the airline plans to operate its 737-800 out of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport to New Yok, Miami and Canada.
The airline also plans to use its ATRs to fly out of the Eugene Correia Airport (Ogle) to cover the Caribbean, with a possibility of a direct fly to Barbados.

However Caribbean airlines back in July applied for regular schedule flights out of Ogle. Through the Guyana Civil aviation authority, the Guyana Ledger has confirmed that approval was granted and all the other preparation to have flights out of Ogle is going smoothly.

The release date of all the schedule flights in and out Eugene. Correia Airport and the Cheddi Jagan International Airport is still to be determined.
