TRAPPED THIEF CAPTURED IN EAST COAST SUPERMARKET
It was a standoff between police and at least four bandits who invaded a chinese supermarket on the East Coast of Demerara.
The efforts however of the bandits were foiled, after police swiftly moved into action; thwarting their efforts.
While at least three thieves managed to escape, one, unfortunately was left behind. He quickly found cover inside the supermarket, before he was captured and arrested by police.
The incident occurred at the Egou Chinese Supermarket on the Melanie Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
One of the proprietors, a Chinese national, was shot in the leg, while the security guard on duty was relieved of his handgun.
Reports earlier suggest that one of the bandits was trapped inside the supermarket, but Police Headquarters later stated that the building was cleared. It is unclear at this time how many bandits invaded the supermarket.
A manhunt has been launched to capture the other three bandits.
