Police are currently investigating the alleged drowning of 25 year-old Umal Jaggernauth, of Spring Garden, Essequibo Coast which occurred on October 11 2020 about 12:30 hrs at Hamburg Beach, Essequibo River.
Enquiries disclosed that about 11:30 hours, he allegedly left his residence along with 25 of his family members in a wooden vessel, enroute to Hamburg Beach. On arrival at the beach, the Jaggernauth family members exited the boat and went ashore, leaving Jaggernauth and his uncle Randy to moor the boat. After they finished mooring the boat, Jaggernauth and his uncle began to swim to shore but only Randy reached to shore, the victim didn’t and was nowhere in site.
The other family members were alerted and later went in search for Jaggernauth but they were unable to locate his body which remains missing.
