The Annual ‘Olympic like Championships’ for the Caribbean region was unable to hold the 49th Carifta games schedule for Bermuda because of the Global Pandemic. It was shifted for 2021 and the 50th Games for 2022. Those will be hosted in Guyana.
The Guyana Ledger spoke with President of the Guyana Athletics Association Aubrey Hutson on Thursday. He noted that in a previous meeting with the New Minister of sports Youth and Culture Charles Ramson Jr., a request to have two new stands constructed on the southern part of the stadium was made.
This would help with the possible crowd expected at the event
.Additionally, Hutson said the resurfacing of the venue track will be on the table because of the deteriorating over the years. There is also a proposal of putting in buckets seats in the existing stands instead of the wooden platform.
The completion of the warm-up track is to be finished with fencing in place to only allow coaches and athletes and with the development of improved parking in the VIP facility.
