The Guyana Fire Service is putting together the pieces and trying to ascertain what caused a fire that destroyed Caricom Auto Sales and Spare Parts centre located at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.

The owner told reporters that based on the damages sustained, he estimates his losses in excess of $8M.
Detectives understand that two employees were in the building when a customer approached and asked about the availability of a car part.
The customer then allegedly threw a piece of paper into the office. Shortly after, an explosion occurred and the building was engulfed in flames.
The suspect made his good escape.
