The police has a lot of explaining to do following the shooting of two cousins, one of whom remains critical at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
20 years-old Christopher Charles and Esther Wiltshire were allegedly shot by police on Monday night. They were reportedly searching for a missing relative in the community of Friendship, East Bank Demerara.
According relatives, during the search, Charles had a misunderstanding with another man.
The family claim that police intervened and two officers began pointing their guns at Charles.
Charles was reportedly told by the police to comply and surrendered to officers.
Relatives claim that officers began to beat Charles. As a consequence, the young man reportedly fell into a trench where he was beaten by cops.
The family claimed that Charles had surrendered but police issues threats to kill him. After pleaded with the police for more than 10 minutes, the family claimed that police shot Charles while injuring his cousin. He was reportedly shot in the abdomen by police.
