The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit on Thursday said that a Barbadian registered cargo vessel marked “CV1 Barbados” laden with vegetables was searched twice this week as part of an ongoing operation at the GNIC Wharf Lombard Street Georgetown.

The vessel was first searched on Tuesday 6th October 2020 and then searched again on Wednesday 7th October 2020.

The unit said that large bulk parcels of suspected marijuana were uncovered concealed in a section of the vessel.

CANU reported that two of the crew members of the vessel arrested are Barbadian Nationals whilst the four other suspects arrested are Guyanese Nationals.

71 Parcels which weighed 69.246 kilograms of suspected Marijuana has been seized by CANU.
