Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery committed on a 37 year old mechanic and his family Recht-Door-Zee, Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara by three (3) identifiable males, one of whom was armed with a silver hand gun, one with a cutlass and the other with a knife.
The police say, “Enquiries disclosed that about 19:50 hours the victim was standing in his veranda when the three men jumped his fence from a southern direction and the suspect with the handgun then pointed it to his head and ordered him to go inside, while the two other men went into the home where the victim’s wife and children were and ordered them into the living room.”
The suspects tied the family up and started to demand cash and other items.
The mechanic however took the men into his bedroom and handed over $300,000 dollars cash, Guyana Currency. This was however not enough as the suspects began to beat him about; demanding jewelry.
“The suspects ransacked the home and carted off with a number of cell phones, laptop computers, tablets and gold jewellery estimated at a total value of $1,085,500 Guyana Currency.” the police say.
The victim managed to free himself and raised an alarm after the men good their escape. He was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was seen and examined by a Doctor on duty and received treatment for wounds to his head and sent away.
