During an interview on the National Communications Network at the weekend, Businessman Roshan Khan said, “No I can’t. I have a purpose, why should I step down.”
Khan last week through a post on social media called on “Indians” to arm themselves with ‘sticks and batons’ as a means of guarding themselves against what was occurring on the the West Coast of Berbice. Khan attempted damage control by editing his post. But by that time, the Ethnic Relations Commission, of which he is a Commissioner, distanced themselves from his statement.
“Just because of that post, its a whole conspiracy taking place, by a political man and a political entity and that is why they are doing this, to try to destroy me and break me and possibly get me to resign from the ERC.” Khan said.
The coalition opposition last week did not take too lightly a statement made by Commissioner Roshan Khan. The ERC however stated that the views expressed by Khan does not reflect the values of the commission.
Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon said, “He is no longer fit be on the ERC.”
