The Office of the National Assembly on Friday suspended an order which will allow Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo to make a presentation on the 2020 Budget.
The suspended order gives Jagdeo, who has responsibility for financial affairs in the People’s Progressive Party, uninterrupted time to make his presentation.
Meanwhile during a press conference on Friday, AFC Leader Khemraj Ramjattan wasted no time in registering the disapproval of Liberty and Justice Party Leader Lennox Shuman as Deputy Speaker of the house.
“That was the right step we made…we felt it an opportune moment, especially in the context of not wanting a Deputy Speaker, who comes from the main Parliamentary Opposition, and in view of the fact that we had some illegalities and irregularities.”
Ramjattan was however asked about whether it was feasible for the opposition to walk out, especially since the current administration approved millions in funds to several government agencies. He explained that the walk out sent a stern message to the government as to what is to come.
