As the current administration presses the reset button on stringent COVID-19 regulations, two women become the latest fatalities to the killer virus on Friday. This now brings the total number of deaths to 46.
The Ministry of Health on Friday revealed that the victims are 84-year-old from Region 4 while the other who hailed from Region One. She was 47-years old.
Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony revealed that that many of the recorded fatalities had underlying conditions. Despite this, he said the ministry, by extension the government is worried about the sudden spike in deaths and infections.
With regards to the current backlog, he noted efforts are being made to have the tests sent overseas with the aim of reducing the number of samples currently in the care of the health ministry.
Dr. Frank noted that the Ministry is awaiting the results from more than 500 samples sent to Trinidad for testing. There are currently more than 1000 samples that have not been tested.
