Former Director of Sports Christopher Jones has not been questioned by the police in relation to an allegation that he used “state funds” to purchase items that were intended for a project, and instead made purchases for a barbershop and bar.
Jones has since denied any knowledge of wrong doing to the police as he was taken into the Criminal Investigations Department and kept there until midday on Monday where he was released on $100,000 station bail.
When contacted on Tuesday, Jones told The Guyana Ledger he is still awaiting word from the police as to what will happen next in relation to the matter. “I was told to report to the Brickdam Police Station, which I did, and the police there said that they are still investigating the matter.”
Jones told this online news entity that he will await the investigation. He was ordered to report again to the Brickdam Police Station on August 31. Jones says that he will still pursue action to have the items returned to him.
