PNC CHAIRPERSON OUT ON $100,000 BAIL ACCUSED OF ELECTION FRAUD.
Chairperson on the People’s National Congress and Former Minister of Public Health under the APNU-AFC regime, Volda Lawrence, has been released on $100,000 bail after her first arraignment at the Georgetown Magistrates Court. Lawrence is accused of electoral fraud.
Private criminal charges were filed against Lawrence in relation to the March 02, General, and Regional elections. The charges were filed against her Charles Ramson Jnr; who is now the minister of Culture Youth and Sport in the current administration.
It is alleged that Returning Officer of Region 4, Clairmont Mingo having been procured by Lawrence on or about March 5, 2020, at the Command Centre for the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on High and Hadfield Streets, Georgetown uttered to the Chief Elections Officer (CEO), Keith Lowenfield, the results for Region Four, knowing it to be forged, with intent to defraud the people of Guyana. Lawrence was not required to plea to the indictable charge and will make another court appearance on September 11, 2020.
